Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Werewolf ("the Game," "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. The Game is provided free of charge as an open-source project under the MIT license.

2. Description of Service

Werewolf is a free, browser-based social deduction game designed for in-person group play. The Game operates as follows:

• Players join game rooms hosted by a designated game host.
• Each player receives a secret role assignment (e.g., Villager, Werewolf, Seer, Doctor).
• The Game alternates between night phases (where special roles act secretly) and day phases (where all players discuss and vote).
• The Game ends when one team meets its win condition.

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

3. User Conduct

As a user of the Game, including both hosts and players, you agree to the following code of conduct:

3.1 Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Game for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Attempt to disrupt, hack, reverse-engineer, or manipulate the Game's functionality, servers, or network infrastructure
• Impersonate other players, the host, or any system functionality
• Use automated scripts, bots, macros, or any form of automation to interact with the Game
• Exploit bugs, glitches, or unintended mechanics to gain unfair advantages
• Harass, threaten, bully, or intimidate other players based on their gameplay choices
• Share or publish your screen showing role information to other active players during a game
• Use the Service to distribute malware, phishing links, or harmful content
• Attempt to interfere with other players' enjoyment of the Game

3.2 Host Responsibilities

Game hosts are responsible for:

• Ensuring all players understand the rules before the game begins
• Managing the game flow and enforcing phase timing
• Making final decisions on disputes or rule clarifications
• Ensuring a respectful and inclusive environment for all players

4. Intellectual Property

4.1 Open Source Code

The Game's source code is publicly available under the MIT license at github.com/LIONBABYCRYPTO/mafia-automated-assembly. You are free to view, fork, modify, and distribute the code in accordance with the MIT license terms.

4.2 Usage Restrictions

While the code itself is open source, the following restrictions apply:

• You may not use the Service for commercial purposes without prior written permission. Commercial use includes but is not limited to charging users for access, selling in-game advantages, or monetizing the Service beyond standard advertising revenue.
• The "Werewolf" name and branding are not licensed under MIT. You may not re-use the branding in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Game and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to:

• Data loss or corruption
• Service interruption or unavailability
• Lost profits or business opportunities
• Personal injury or property damage
• Third-party claims

The Game is provided free of charge, and this limitation of liability reflects the absence of financial consideration.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Warranties of uninterrupted or error-free service
• Warranties of accuracy, reliability, or completeness
• Warranties of security or freedom from unauthorized access

7. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services including:

• Cloudflare: Content delivery, DNS, and serverless compute infrastructure
• Google AdSense: Advertisement serving
• GitHub Pages: Static site hosting

These services have their own terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the operations or policies of these third parties.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms. Since the Game does not maintain user accounts, termination is limited to denying access from specific IP addresses or devices in cases of severe or repeated violations.

9. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Singapore.

11. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

12. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the Game regarding your use of the Service and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
